In Wit and Its Relation to the Unconscious Mind, Freud describes humor as a way of dealing with pain. This might be a reason why most of the legendary comics ingested narcotics like I eat M&Ms.
But if you two get much happier you're going to have to change career paths.
(BTW, I actually did read Wit and Its Relation.... and didn't laugh once! I guess it goes to prove that you can do as much coke as Kinison but it doesn't make you as funny)
