M.I.A. is P.G.

All she wants to do is (pacifier sucking sound) and ("Row Row Row Your Boat") and have a baby!

Singer M.I.A. is expecting now, so I guess it's time to update my impression of her. Good thing I'm not a method actor.

M.I.A. and Labor Day

I will be gone for the weekend, so there is no use checking back here to see if I will be on the cast of next season's Dancing with the Stars. In the mean time, you can watch one of my favorite non-dancing stars, M.I.A. of "Pineapple Express Soundtrack" fame (or if you're an indie music follower, you know her from your dreams). This is a new impression unleashed at Delusions of Spandex sketch show.

Candy Cigarettes

...for your inner juvenile delinquent.

Monday Evening Stand-Up at Pete's is featuring Jen Dziura, candy cigarettes, and a very special guest. She's the woman who taught me to petition Target to stock Man-tyhose, and the only lady I'll ever let badmouth Gayle King, Dr. Erick Newberry.

Dr. Newberry is a motivational speaker that opened my eyes to the indifference, injustice and instupidence of society. Come along with her on a road called Understanding as she exposes your notions of misogyny and replaces them with new ones.

Monday, March 24th
Pete's Candy Store, 709 Lorimer St. in Williamsburg
7:30pm
Free

Also starring Eliza Faria-Santos, John Knefel, Ross Hyzer, Joe Pontillio, and Federico Garduno.

(A message from Jen Dziura: Candy cigarattes still exist, but now they're called "Candy Stix." And cancer is now called "Gummy Tumours!")

Roe Vs. Wade Anniversary

Last Tuesday marked the 35th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade verdict. Producers Carolyn Castiglia and Nichelle Stephens invited Dr. Erick Newberry to drop some knowledge. Check out some of the memorable quotes of the night on their website.

Carolyn led the lineup with a swish of her lovely hairstyle and humor with events so current they haven't even happened yet.

Nichelle participated with an awesome avant-garde sketch/puppetry group.

Jess Wood closed the show with a huge bang. I think it was someone's gut busting.

International superstar Clara Bijl dropped in to hit the stage before she jet-set off to France or Los Angeles or wherever her comedy's taking her these days. Tres chic!
